a closer look at what i treat and how we'll work together

before baby arrives

Perinatal Anxiety

Worry that's taken over, racing thoughts, dread that won't quiet down, even when nothing's actually wrong. I use CBT and EMDR to help your nervous system stop treating every moment like an emergency.

fear of child birth

When the thought of labor and delivery brings up more dread than anticipation. We'll work through what's actually underneath the fear so it doesn't run the show on the day it matters most.

Preparing for the Shift

The quiet anxiety of knowing your identity and relationships are about to change, and not knowing quite how. I help you name what you're anticipating now, so it's less disorienting when it actually arrives.

after baby arrives

Postpartum Depression

The sadness, numbness, or guilt that doesn't lift, even on the good days. I use evidence-based tools to catch the spiral and build a story about yourself that actually holds up.

Birth Trauma

When the birth didn't go the way you expected, or the way your body remembers it. I use EMDR (and other tools) to help your brain stop replaying it like it's still happening.

Postpartum Anxiety & Intrusive Thoughts

The racing worry and the scary thoughts you're afraid to say out loud. Having them doesn't make you a danger to your baby, and you're not the only one who's had them.

anxiety

Trouble turning your brain off? Waiting for the other shoe to drop (even when nothing's wrong)? Or find yourself avoiding things that used to feel easy?

I use CBT and exposure work to help you stop letting the what-ifs run the show.

life transitions

If you've been stuck on the same decision for months, or you're ready to move in your life but not sure where to start, you don't have to figure it out alone.

I use values work and narrative therapy to help you move forward before certainty ever shows up.

trauma

If you've told the story a hundred times and your body still reacts like it's happening now, that gap between understanding and feeling safe is exactly where we start.

I use EMDR to help your body finally catch up to what your mind already knows.

mood disorders

If you've been diagnosed with depression, bipolar disorder, or another mood disorder, I use CBT and behavioral activation to help you identify and change unhelpful thought patterns and behaviors that worsen depression or emotional highs and lows.

a few of the tools I use and how they can help from conception to new motherhood.

For the intrusive thoughts and birth trauma you're afraid to say out loud. EMDR helps your brain stop replaying it like it's still happening.

For identity shift and relationship strain, Interpersonal Therapy works through both at the same time, because they're rarely separate.

ways to work together:

1:1 therapy

Weekly, bi-weekly, monthly, or as needed. We'll meet one-on-one to tackle what's come up for you.

group therapy

Each month I run 2 group therapy sessions in my office here in Dallas (and teletherapy options available as well)

intensives

I offer multi-hour intensives as needed for milestones in your pregnancy and beyond the fourth trimester.

a few cases where i'm not a good fit...

I'm not equipped to support active psychiatric crisis or postpartum psychosis; those situations need a higher level of care, and I keep a referral list ready so you're never left without somewhere to go.

I also focus specifically on the birthing parent's experience, so if you're a partner looking for support, I'm happy to point you toward someone who specializes in that. Check out the additional resources for more info.

Add a little final note here of encouragement.

i hope you know...

you don't have to wait until you hit rock bottom to ask for help.
